Poets' Corner

We're keen to see your poetry
Upon these blogging pages
A local one and funny one
A moan about your wages

A poem that rhymes and one that doesn't
It really matters not
But if you email it to us
We will display the lot

You may have years of writing
Choose from your best or worst
Or could start now, a true beginner
Finding "you've got Versed"

So don't delay, write it today
And see through clouds of fog
We'll publish it - Norfolk Squit?
Upon this living blog.

THE CHET COMMUNITY FESTIVAL from ANON

Today it's raining on my house
It's splashing off the gutters
I'm feeling cosy on my sofa
Hearing people's mutters.

But tomorrow is St Swithun's Day
And if it rains down then
We have a drop each day for sure
For 30 Days plus Ten

The grass gets green and crops will grow
Across the Norfolk Broads
But by September it will stop
All ready for the hoards

Of people that will come to Loddon
On the tenth of September
To the Chet Community Festival
A day you must remember

With parades and face paints, bands playing loud
And displays to amaze,
The pleasure in the local crowd
Enjoying it for days.

So if you didn't get a ticket
To go to Latitude
Then come on down and have some fun
(It's free from attitude!)

It's also FREE Entry that's true
And lots to see and do
And people there without a care
Under a sky so blue (hopefully!)

Parades and ice creams, hot dogs sizzling
Music, dance and story tales
Foot massage and art to die for
Beer tent full of local ales

Wood carving, pottery, tea and cake,
A corn doll, chill out tent and LETS
Your local festival is a day
That no-one ever forgets

And another...

An old man who lived by the Chet
Looked out of his window and met
A cyclist from Beccles
All covered with freckles
Who said, "Hi there, my name is Colette."
